The 17th Annual Green Tie Affair Auction and Party on Saturday, April 20, at Woodrow Hall was a huge success thanks to hundreds of attendees and nearly 60 volunteers that put together this year's event!

The Green Tie Affair featured amazing live music by the Barn Boys of Birmingham, alcholic & non-alcholic beverages, heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by local restaurants, a silent & live auction offered items such as vacation packages, artwork from local artists, and gift certificates. Free valet parking provided by Apex Valet.
The Green Tie Affair was also an occasion to celebrate the AEC’s renovations of its downtown Birmingham Recycling Center, which will include a look more attractive to the neighbors as well as recycling a used shipping container into an office. Exciting news was shared that the Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation recently awarded $25,000 toward the renovation project. As Executive Director was preparing to ask for additional gifts to raise the last donations necessary, Harry and Lori Purnell offered a matching gift of $25,000 to complete the project! This project has been on the drawing board for a number of years and now should be able to be completed in the next few months.
The Green Tie Affair is the AEC's annual fundraiser with proceeds going to benefit our state-wide work. An exciting night for all involved!
