For more than 40 years, citizens have gathered together to celebrate Earth Day, and the Green Tie Affair was a great occasion to do that in 2014. In 1970, Earth Day capitalized on the emerging environmental consciousness, channeling that energy and putting environmental concerns front and center. The Alabama Environmental Council continues that advocacy today by educating citizens, corporations, and elected officials toward sustainable living and stewardship of the environment. The Green Tie Affair is the Council's largest annual fundraiser with proceeds going to benefit our statewide work.
Thank you for helping make the 18th Annual Green Tie Affair Auction at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens a roaring success.
More than 300 guests turned out for the wonderful event. Live music was provided by the Sam Pointer Band, and beverages provided by Good People Brewing Company, Cahaba Brewing Company, Avondale Brewing Company and Martha Hunter and JohnnyGreenSeeds Wines. Food was amazing and presented by local restaurants with El Barrio Restaurante Y Bar stealing the show, as well as Organic Harvest, Little Donkey, Jim 'N Nick's BBQ, J Clyde, and Whole Foods. And of course the silent and live auction never dissappoints with items such as vacation packages, artwork from local artists, and gift certificates.
We look forward to next year's 19th event and hope you will make plans to miss a great party for the planet!
We greatly appreciate the support of this year's sponsors:
