AEC Dropoff Status:
BRING ON IN
At the AEC Dropoff:

Due to restrictions from our Plastic Vendor, we are only able to accept plastic jugs in our #2 plastic bins, like milk jugs or empty laundry detergent bottles. Please check the bottom of your container when you're dropping these off and please make sure to keep #1 and #2 separate.   You may have some #2 plastic that can not be accepted at our dropoff.  See below for other locations to drop off this material and make sure they will accept non-bottles.

PLEASE rinse those milk jugs before bringing them in.  There is not much worse than pouring sour milk on yourself or our workers while sorting! Yuck!

FYI:

#2 plastic is High-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polyethylene high-density (PEHD) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. It takes 1.75 kilograms of petroleum (in terms of energy and raw materials) to make one kilogram of HDPE.  HDPE is commonly recycled, and has the number "2" as its recycling symbol. In 2007, the global HDPE market reached a volume of more than 30 million tons

FAQ:

What kind of items are typically made of #2 (HDPE) Plastic?  Milk jugs, laundry detergent containers, some plastic bags and bottle caps...check the symbol if you're unsure!
