Shelby County Dropoff Locations

If you live in Shelby County and would like to drop-off recycling, the following locations have bins to accept materials.

The Recycling Bins will accept the following items:

Mixed paper (cereal boxes, box packaged foods, phone books, magazines, office paper, junk mail, etc.)

Newspaper

Corrugated cardboard (broken down)

Steel, aluminum, & tin cans

Plastics #1-7 (lids removed, contents emptied)

Please do not bring the following items:

Wax-coated milk or juice cartons

Batteries

Styrofoam

Plastics that contain hazardous material, such as motor oil, pesticides, or other chemicals

Scrap metal that's not in can form

Liquids of any kind, including paint, antifreeze, or motor oil

Clothing or fabrics

Wood

Tires

Wax or metal-coated papers

Plastic grocery bags

Electronics

Stuff that you don't want!

The following items are also accepted at our Downtown Birmingham Recycling Drop-off Center, 2431 2nd Avenue N:

Glass (all types, please remove any lids/tops and make sure they are washed out)

Cell Phones

Printer Ink & Toner Cartridges

Computers, including CPU, monitor, printers, other components and most other electronics except TV's
